Based in Brooklyn, Railbird is the musical project of Sarah K. Pedinotti (S.K.P.) a songwriter and bandleader who mixes pop forms and experimental textures with her evocative lyrics. In March 2011 they toured to and from SXSW supporting their debut, self-released album, No One. Recorded mostly in Queens, and partly in upstate, NY, No One is a conceptual album that took a year and a half to complete.
“Railbird’s music reminds me of those dreams you love and never forget. There are moments of pop but it’s not from this planet.” – The Sound Spy, Boston, April 2011
Railbird isn’t afraid of void nor silence. Split between the isolated wilderness of upstate NY (where they converged in March of 2009 in a friend’s A-frame cabin surrounded by snow) and the crowded lonesomeness of NYC, this band produces sparse music that speaks to the heart – and can be comforting to both the lonely and the stressed out. We are impressed with these guys, we recommend you check them out..” – The Deli NYC, February 2011
“Railbird is an ensemble that can best be described as the future of music.” – Frank151, February 2011
“Pedinott’s indescribable voice still has that little-girl meow deep inside it, which makes it both endearing and fascinating, especially because she doesn’t sound like anyone else singing out there in musicland. Her songwriting and the band’s overall sound has morphed into a darker and deeper place, filled with acute social and personal commentary.” – Nippertown, March, 2011
